Little Plymouth was built, before the American Revolution by a New Englander with the last name of Williams, hence the name Little Plymouth. He built his new Virginia home on on land purchased from the estate of John Robinson, who was a former Delegate and Speaker Of The Virginia House Of Burgesses from 1738-1766.

Williams, is the first known owner and builder of the actual house itself.  It is sited off of The Trail (Rt. 14) in a manner typical of a rural house in New England.   Williams built a store next to the house which he operated for more than forty years.   In 1820, he sold Little Plymouth and returned to New England, leaving his legacy to remain at Little Plymouth.  The historic record and ownership is detailed in the following pages, which are located within this post.  They will give you many details and shed much light on this lovely New England Colonial in the heart of King and Queen County, Virginia.

The current owner has updated the home for modern conveniences.

There are no Historic or Conservation Easements on this property which allows You, The Purchaser, the ultimate flexibility and ability to improve the property without any encumbrances. Little Plymouth is ideally suited for use as a Horse Farm or Rural  Retreat. . . The Historic Home Of Your Dreams is within Reach, and awaits at Little Plymouth!

Little Plymouth possesses a low brick foundation, great end chimneys, a dutch roof and is typical  of larger frame houses built during the this period.  Five dormered windows across the front of the house have four over four pane sashes.  The four over four windows below, feature six over six windows.  Much of the original glass remains.

A wide center hall has original moldings including chair rail, cross and bible doors and a charming corner staircase.  All of the mantels are original with the first floor fireplaces having paneled chimney breasts above the fireplace mantels.

This is a gracious and comfortable home features  original floors, doors and moldings throughout with the current owners updated finishes that beautifully compliment the house, which is move in ready.

Happy New Year!

The breathtaking and serene beauty of Winter 2018, is upon us with the first snowfall of January!  Pictured here are photos of one of the properties that I sold, representing the Sellers.  Since that time, I have been blessed with a wonderful friendship that has developed with the purchasers, who love their home.

In years past, it was thought that winter was not a good time to bring your home on the market or to search for a new home  of your dreams.  This is no longer the case as the statistics and trends show that first time homes and second home sales are strong in the months of December and January.

I would be delighted to talk with you about your home buying or selling goals and help you achieve them in 2018!  It is my belief and practice that relationships which go the distance are built on trust, diligence  and working hard on behalf of  my clients.   Contact me today to discuss how we might be able to dynamically and artfully meet your real estate buying or selling goals!  Feel free to contact me by phone (804-445-5500) or by email at  [email protected].   Inventory is low and buyers are looking for the historic, equestrian, waterfront, estate and rural home of their dreams.

My very best regards to you and well wishes for a healthy, prosperous and productive New Year in 2018!

The First Thanksgiving!

As our entire nation in every town, village, state and city has paused to celebrate a day of “Thanksgiving and Remembrance”  it is that time of year again to reflect on the blessings that we have received, the  milestones that we have achieved in our lives, the lessons we have learned, grace that we have received and to recap what we are grateful for, that has transpired over the last year.  There is always something we can be grateful for.

As a Virginian and a student of history, it is important to present what the First Thanksgiving in the New World was and who it was that celebrated it.  I do hope you enjoy the video below, which is from a presentation made at the Virginia Historical Society in 2011!

The Art of Selling Fine Homes.

As a Luxury Homes of Distinctions Specialist, waterfront / estate agent and a consistent Top Producer, I am known for articulate and elegantly written copy, for breathtaking photography, for artful representation and for world class marketing materials that raise the bar.  Years ago, one of my clients said to me, “Karin, most people spend a great deal of time talking about their work, but your work speaks for itself.”  I have only just now, many years later, appreciated the profound message in his simple statement to me.

As a very “well connected” Individual and Realtor, I believe in the strength of personal and professional relationships.  A large part of selling properties with a very small pool of buyers is networking to my sphere as well as knowing who the buyer is (from a demographic, cultural and social point of view and knowing where to find them)

Representing very unique Luxury Properties has been compared to “looking for a needle in a hay stack”.   As a good challenge has always inspired me, I have become proficient at attracting those needles in the haystack through a variety of means.  If you are looking for a Realtor / Broker to represent you and your Luxury or Estate Property, Why not choose someone “whose work speaks for itself”,

I can be reached anytime at 804-445-5500.  I would be delighted and honored to share what my work has to say about me.

A Higher Level of Service…Going Above and Beyond!

Over the years I have had the pleasure and opportunity to successfully represent buyers and sellers of iconic and breathtaking properties, throughout the Chesapeake Bay Region of Virginia and beyond by offering  a higher level of service to my clients.

Included in this post are  photos of  some of the wonderful materials that I / we will produce for your property.

As an accomplished copywriter, I am able to not only produce visually stunning marketing materials, but I am able to effectively articulate all that your property is in writing.  It would be my pleasure to meet with you to discuss your real estate goals.

I can be reached at 804-445-5500 or by email: [email protected].Lisburne broker open invitation gates

Mahockney Circa 1670, 1750 and 1820 with porch additions in 1910 is an architecturally rare and beautifully sited manor house, on 48+ acres.  George Washington stayed at Mahockney several times and served in the House of Burgesses with William Roane.  Richard Henry Lee visited William Roane here “many times” during the early days of the Revolution, as per a memoir written by his son Spencer Roane, who also went on to marry Patrick Henry’s daughter!  In the colonial era, all visitors to Hobbs Hole, now known as Tappahannock, was always by Mahockney, which also served as an Ordinary from 1740 – 1765. Mahockney is the birthplace and home of Patriots, Orators, Statemen and great Agricultural Dynasties in Virginia.  There are very few Historic Homes in Virginia that can boast such an astounding legacy and provenance!

The manor house is surrounded by fields in cultivation, a very private woodland and pastoral views in every direction.  A long driveway to the Manor House, from Mt. Landing Road, is accessed between two gated pillars that set the tone for the remainder of the property.  The five-bay, two-story manor house, over a high English basement was built during several periods, part of which dates to the late 17th century.

The Main Living Level  is a warm, welcoming space. HL Hinges, original and reproduction leaded glass windows, original hand carved moldings, mantels, built-ins, original heart pine flooring, a lovely center hall and original staircases to the upper and basement levels, 5 fireplaces, massive and distinctive exterior/interior chimneys, a first-floor bedroom and master bath with hammered copper tub and sink, formal dining room, Gourmet/Farmhouse Kitchen with pantries, a side Porch, half bath, a large screened porch with casual porch dining overlooking a garden fountain and distant horse barn, two living rooms with fireplaces and so much more. The Second Floor features two spacious bedrooms, with fireplaces, built-ins, closets and a centrally located full bath.  The Basement level has been restored to reveal ancient oyster shell and horsehair plaster, an ancient brick floor (which has been fully restored using reclaimed ancient brick from a colonial era plantation in Essex County) two fireplaces and a wine cellar / family room, mechanical equipment room and storage areas.

Additional property features include a pristine, secluded and fully stocked seven-acre pond, wildlife in abundance, 1.5 miles of manicured walking / riding trails, ancient towering trees (Magnolia, Sycamore, Black Walnut and more) glorious gardens, brick and crushed oyster shell walkways, patios, fenced herb garden, 1.75 acre horse paddock, barn, garden shed, special night-time lighting, a serene garden fountain, whole house generator and so much more.

The Fall Market is Heating up!

Whatever the reason may be, whether it is that interest rates are low or the fact that property and home buyers are moving on with their lives after experiencing election overload –  It is a great time to buy a home or small farm.

I have just had recent showings, multiple inquiries and new showings coming up, after a long summer.

New listings coming soon.  Hoping to announce some closings soon as well.

Best Regards,

Karin Andrews
