Equestrian Facilities at Lisburne!

Located on 70+ waterfront acres, Lisburne is not only an exquisite historic estate with glorious gardens and an exquisite manor house, this property features numerous amenities, such as tennis courts, a swimming pool, pier, numerous outdoor buildings and cottages.  It has also served as an equestrian property through the years and is well suited to continue in that regard.

The Interiors at Lisburne!

There is no question that Lisburne, previously known as Pleasant Point, which was built for William Backhouse – circa 1810, are absolutely captivating.  From the original staircase, heart pine floors, high ceilings, exquisite hand carved moldings of the original house, to the equally stately additions done in period style, this property is absolutely enchanting.  It is beautifully sited with water-frontage on Vaughan’s Creek, a tributary of the Severn River.

“Homes with Colonial Construction still intact raises question about why Modern Houses don’t last”

This article is a repost of an article that ran in the Richmond Times Dispatch, following Historic Garden Week in Virginia tour this past weekend.  Both of the historic homes mentioned by the article’s writer are familiar to me.  One near Newtown (Walton’s Academy) belongs to my husband’s cousins who live there and the other I know well, as I have written about Heathsville, Virginia and have done a great deal of research on the area.

Homes like the ones I have listed and sold, that were built during the colonial era in Virgina  (or shortly thereafter) have architectural features like center halls, English basements and more that are typical of these homes.  Their brick work is often a work of art in its own right and for the most part has stood the test of time, where as a home built today will probably not fare well in 40 years and will most likely have long since disappeared in 200 years.  Not so the true Historic Treasures in our midst!  They are so worthy of our admiration and our stewardship.

As I specialize in the rare and unique Historic, Waterfront, Equestrian, Farm and Estate Properties throughout Virginia, please give me a call if we can assist you with your real estate needs, whether buying or selling.

We artfully, dynamically and diligently represent both buyers and sellers of these fine and distinctive properties throughout the major estate regions of Virginia…Our office is located in Williamsburg, Virginia.  With that said…we do travel often.

New Client Review!

The words of my clients are the very best advertisement and endorsement of my work as a Realtor, Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia, specializing in Historic, Waterfront, Unique and Equestrian Properties in Virginia.  I was delighted to receive this endorsement and reference today!  It has been my pleasure and honor to work with Lewis and Kathryn!

Karin, I offered to do a testimonial/recommendation for your website (or any other use you like), happy to do so and here goes: In 2016 my wife and I decided to place our historic Tidewater Virginia home on the market. After interviewing multiple other realtors, we chose Karin Andrews as the best choice for our particular situation: the challenge of marketing a unique home, our desire for broader marketing beyond our region and state, and the ability through words, images, design, and inspiration, to communicate a special message. Karin spent time to develop a targeted marketing campaign, wrote lyrical and effective copy, took and arranged glorious photographs, arranged a flawless drone-video shoot, and created lovely products – all reflecting the special history and beauty of our place. Her management of the visits and showings with prospective buyers was top-notch, as was her use of online media and social networks to spread the word. We were very happy with our choice of Karin Andrews and recommend her highly to others looking for the best.
