The current offering of Carousel located at 8495 Freewelcome Lane and Mansfield on the Piankatank at 8493 Freewelcome Lane – Dutton, Virginia creates the opportunity to own two distinct neighboring properties,  on the Middle Peninsula, in the Chesapeake Bay Region of Virginia just above the Mathews County Line.

Carousel priced at  $2,995,000  is set on 40.63 acres fronting on the Piankatank River!   Carousel occupies a commanding presence above the Piankatank with superior elevation and breathtaking views and vistas.

The 10,000 sq. ft. 23 room great house is actually the original 1938 Manor House and a luxurious 3 story addition, completed in 2007,  These two homes are connected by a curved Hyphen that unites these two homes so beautifully.  It is a center hub of activity for both homes and boasts a Lux Club Style Wet Bar with views toward the Gillette Walled Garden and the  spectacular waterfront!

Add to all of this smart home technology,  geothermal heating and cooling, state of the art security systems, superior elevation, a world-class pier and covered dock with lifts fit for a Hinckley Picnic, with an additional boat slip with lift can accommodate a fairly good-sized fishing boat.  (The current owners had a 22′ Regulator for the smaller slip).  2 Jet Ski lifts and an additional yacht slip create the ultimate mooring, on deep protected water.

Twice featured on the Historic Garden Week in Virginia (Gloucester/Mathews) Tour in 2001 and 2010, Carousel also features a lovely walled garden by Charles Gillette, Manor house designed by Clarence Wright Huff, World Class Tennis Courts, walking or riding trails, acres and acres of glorious gardens, rare trees, Glass English Greenhouse, indoor/outdoor sound systems,  whole house generator, in-ground irrigation, in-ground salt pool and spa, four seasons porch, attached and detached garages, world-class temperature controlled wine cellars, elevator, 2 gourmet and 2 service kitchens, grand halls, exquisite finishes, fixtures and moldings, 2 first floor master-suites, cedar lined closets, 5 working fireplaces and so much more.

Mansfield adjoins Carousel and is set on 5 scenic acres with its own gated entrance, mature plantings, gardens, lovely waterfront and a three story manor home with full walk up attic with its own staircase and a walk out basement.  Lots of living space on the Basement, First and Second Floor Levels.  Ideal Executive or Family Retreat.

Merry Point Circa 1767- Lancaster County, VA

On a high promontory overlooking the gloriously stunning Corrotoman River stands Merry Point House – Circa 1767 with later additions and dependencies.  These are my personal photos that I have retained ownership of.  They were taken for the previous listing agent who asked me to photograph this property.   As Merry Point is such a rare and remarkable property, I agreed to photograph it, with the intent of doing everything I can to help procure a purchaser and steward, who will carry on the legacy of this serenely captivating historic estate.  This is  simply the loveliest of properties, encompassing over 14 acres with superior elevation above the beautiful and sailboat depth Corrotoman River, in Lancaster County, Virginia.    If you are reading this and have a realtor already, in another part of Virginia, I would still be delighted to assist you with the blessing and referral of your realtor.

As a professional photographer, I am also, often asked by other Estate Brokers to photograph their properties because of my attention to detail, architectural knowledge, artful eye and expertise regarding Historic and Estate Properties and their buyers.

As a Licensed Realtor in Virginia, Specializing in Historic, Waterfront, Equestrian and Estate Properties, throughout Virginia, I would be delighted to arrange a showing for you with the listing agent.  Merry Point encompasses 14 pastoral acres, main house, guest house, garage, herb gardens, magnolias, dogwoods, towering trees, pier, dock, woodland gardens, trails and much more offered at $995,000.

Please feel free to contact me by email at karinandrews@williamewood.com, or by phone (804) 445-5500, for further information.

Ben Lomond Essex County Virginia Circa 1735 – A Buyer’s Perspective

Recently, I received this beautiful recommendation from Craig and Zorine Shirley, who purchased Ben Lomond in Essex County, Virginia in the 4th quarter of 2014.  It is in the Top 10 of all property sales, in 2014 in the Middle Peninsula Region.  I represented the Sellers but have loved getting to know the buyers, Craig and Zorine. They have become cherished friends and are a dynamic couple, who will be amazing stewards of this crown jewel estate on the Upper Middle Peninsula of Virginia. The following is what they have written about me, which means so much on a professional and personal level.  This is who I am.

“Karin Andrews is unlike any realtor we’ve ever worked with before. What started out as a professional relationship quickly became a warm friendship. A kind and thoughtful woman, she is a person of remarkable talents who enthralled us with her working knowledge of Ben Lomond and all of Essex County. She is, in the words of the Old South, a truly Great Lady.”

Warmly,

Craig and Zorine Shirley

Recently Sold – Historic Waterfront in Mathews – Belmont Circa 1837

Earlier this month, I represented buyer clients from out of state,  in their search for a historic waterfront home that met their needs as a private home they could eventually retire to, while using it as a Vacation Rental By Owner in the meantime.   It was my pleasure and honor to assist them in listening to their needs, wants and previewing properties on their behalf.  The opportunity to not only meet the needs of my clients but also make new friends is one of the very best parts of my profession.  The listing agent also was a joy to work with and offered great cooperation.  I am hoping we will have another one coming down the road in the near future.
